Will This Game Last?/ random/important question.

First and foremost if this has been posted before i apologize for posting it again. Just like the title says, What is everybodys opinion on how long this game could possibly last via tournaments? Do you think it will fade away in time or stick around like other big fighting games like street fighter/melee?

On a random note... Ive been watching alot of footage on this game as well as playing it to learn the mechanics etc... sometimes i see top players use a low jab and then continue pressure.. or they will do a block string and then do a low jab and continue pressure.. Why is this? is it because it puts them at an advantage to continue pressure? or can the opponent press something and continue his pressure? I know an armor move can be used to blow it up but im just trying to figure out the meta game/ footsies. I am a street fighter/tekken player. With that being said, this is my first post and i look forward to playing/ training with all of you!!

I think it will last, but to answer your second question. People use down pokes because they avoid most characters fastest attacks which are highs, and a great deal of down pokes if not blocked leave you at significant advantage. Some being over 20 frames advantage. Though advantage in MK is a little different. In most games if a move is + 20 it means you can combo from it, However in Mortal Kombat it just means you got 20 frames before that character can move again...but they can still block. lol

Obviously some stuff still combos, but you'll have to experiment to figure what does and what doesn't. Scorpion's teleport is +18 on hit...but he can't combo from it. But the opponent can't move either for a little bit which gives him that vortex situation.

It April yet?
No real answer to be given. People are finding option selects. People aren't punishing unsafe specials and gaps in strings like they could be. New dlc and patches are coming. There is no way to be able to tell how this game will look by the time sf5 and Tekken 7 comes out. My opinion, I feel like there is a foundation here to be built on. Will they improve this and add content like sf4 did, or will some dlc come out and then Injustice 2 be announced? No one knows.

This game will last as long you (the community) want it to last. Play the game, attend tournaments, watch the streams, spread the word, create interesting content ect. NRS/ESL won't keep the game alive, that's community's job.

From what I've seen, this game has received more praise among a wider audience of players (those outside of the MK/NRS community) than MK9 ever did.

I'd say that's a start.

Rule of thumb.
If your move A is cancelled into something, then it will leave opponent in "comboable hitstun" and thus following move B will combo into it provided A has enough frames of cancel advantage for B to connect. If move A recovers normally, then it will leave opponent in "staggered" state in which he can block but cannot do anything else.
Exceptions:
- d1, d3 and d4 won't put opponent into proper hitstun even when cancelled, thus nothing will combo with them on standing opponent.
- Some moves like sub's freeze will always put opponent into comboable hitstun.
- Juggled opponent is open for any combos. Duh.

Correct me guys if something's wrong here.
