I think so, but i also have no problem with the best of 3 until a certain point, then going best of 5, with losers & grand finals being best of 7.

Might be kind of early, but matches are going insanely fast. What does everyone else think?
To be fair though, the matches should go slower once:
1) Some of the current nonsense that's steamrolling people is patched out of the game
2) People learn matchups

If you're getting shut down by constant safe 50/50 into the same on oki. or vortex with no bat cooldown, it makes for quick rounds. But we can't assume that's the way things will always be.

Just going to pop up to say going fast isn't a bad thing, necessarily. One of the things that kept ST going so nicely was that a tournament could be done and dusted quick - you could finish entire matches in that game in under a minute.

Edit: Also, CvS2 had the opposite problem - it was played in standard format and people liked the game a lot, but it was exhausting and stressful to both organizers and players in that format because matches went on for a really long time. That game petered off as a tournament staple sooner than it otherwise might have for those reasons, so having matches be too long has been a detriment.

We ran our first local 3/5 and ran over by at least an hour on our venue time. And we ran it pretty flawlessly (started on time, ran matches quickly, organized stream and desync).

This is not Injustice, this game will eventually slow down and level out to where MK9 was. It's a system of 2/3 rounds, with refilling health-bar and round breaks. Like all other games with that structure, it should just be ran that way. I think that @CrimsonShadow is right, once we get over the "OMGZ 50/50s!!!" stage and meta game grows the rounds will slow down.

Besides, imagine a 3/5 on the off chance there are Sub mirrors...

We've been down this road before. The game needs time to REALLY evolve before any changes from a "tournament standard 2/3" are made. Right now the matches might be fast, or slow, or moderate, but we learned that as MK9 evolved, the matches took a really long time. Injustice could be stupid fast even as the game evolved up until the very end. It warranted 3/5, but again, only after enough time had passed that we KNEW 3/5 would not be time constrictive for major tournaments.

Wait a year, then re-visit this question.

Best of 3 for pools, Best of 5 for Top 8 until Best of 7 for the Winners, Grand, and Loser's Finals?
Basically, yes, if we need to change them. I've always felt that once you get to a point where the matches are more important, w/ more on the line, they should be a bit longer.

Most definitely. Game is too fast and too good. Why would anyone want LESS MK. 3/5 the whole way through is perfect, but I'd be ok with 5/7 for finals, too.
