Question - Reptile Reptile - General Discussion - Do any matchups favor deceptive?

If you do f412 on hit into normal basilisk, you will have enough time until the opponent wakes up to react with an armored ex db2 for any teleport chars or yolo superman etc, otherwise you can start spitting and sliding and whatever, free basilisk full screen stuff.

Haven't tested vs the full cast, obviously, but works well for scorp's teleport and raiden.

Found a very good ex nimble setup off his BNB leading to 50/50. You can do f412 dash, 14 ex nimble. 14 is untechable and leaves them at your feet. b34 will break most if not every armored wakeup in the game and leads to 34 or 38% depending on if the b3 hit or not by doing f41, f41, f41, f412 slide. Your also in range for his b2 which can do 33% with the same combo. You are at enough advantage to get a ball on screen which can still break some wakeups and is very good when you think your opponent is going to delay wakeup.

This also works with his BNB f412 ex nimble if you just cut the combo short. So f412 ex nimble slide slide f412 slow ball (29%) will have carried them to the corner in most cases and nimble is still active, you can jip f412 and because of the ball + the string you will again break any wakeups.

Also while nimble is active certain things now combo like b3/f3 fastball without meter.

i am seeing all these nice combo's. I can emulate them all in practise but i seem to be unable to use them online, the input delay is to much for me

I just stick to my own 2.1grab set ups

I think Reptile can give anyone a bad day if played correctly. I use Deceptive and just turn invisible and spam his low combo strings <~3,4 is a good one.

Well, Reptile is probably one of if not the most online unfriendly character. If the netcode was better maybe, I don't even bother using him online, the struggle is real.

i figured that, even the basic combo's seem tight online, where as scorpions and such have it much easyer

Is there a particular reason the Reptile community doesn't want to work together? We have like 5+ different combo threads just so wannabe e-celebs can get their name out there. Most other characters have either 1 combo thread or 3 variation specific combo threads. We have all these different "Random dude's X% reptile combos" threads instead. Even when this issue is brought to their attention they continue to only bump their own thread.

Agreed. We should have a single thread compiling at the very least his BnB's, with the more flashy stuff as icing on the cake. If nobody wants to make a compiled thread of combos, I'll do it. If videos are included, they should be in click to show tags so things are organized.

There is already a main combo thread made by @MK_GDROM though, the issue seems to stem from the fact that certain people feel they are special/important enough that their combos/tech deserves its own thread. I'm all for people wanting to be community leaders but when everyone is a chief and there are no indians, we end up with a clusterfuck of a sub-forum.

Honestly it's something every character forum really needs. Just becomes a cluttered clusterfuck at times, like for this character.

I've asked a few people to let me curate the subforum but I get no answer.

How do you break armor with b3, 4 ? Is it just a timing thing? I'm having some issues with setting up nimble against SubZero because the slide gets me all the time, and it goes under forceball too. I am starting to use Nimble a bit more over Noxious and it seems fun to play but I crai evertim I get hit out of it.

@RapZiLLa54 pls respond ;_;

So I had an interesting though.. Can reptile consistently break armored wake ups with any fast hitting moves while in ballistic? If he can imo this would make the character much better

Did you mean to reply to me? Anyways, one way to break armor moves is to hit them twice during their start up frames. So depending on the wakeup, he can consistently break some armor moves with let's say just a string. Well this may work on moves with alot startup, it's hard to do on fast wakeup moves like Tempest Kung Lao's EX Spin which has 4 frames of start up. Thats why I have been looking at setups that meaty with a normal and a forceball, they just work universally well against most of the cast. Additionally you can break armor moves by hitting them twice anytime during their start up or active frame provided they dont hit you. Then again I had a setup that would meaty with a forceball and elbow dash that would trade for a full combo with some wakeup moves. But this second method is harder to implement because you have look at each wakeup individually. Also this doesnt work on Xrays or some other wakeup moves, like maybe Ferra/Torr's idk.

Alright... Reptile has always been my favorite Ninja, but there is a reason I main Ermac. I find EVERYTHING Reptile does just about unsafe and his pokes and normals are complete ass... and don't even get me started about B2 backing away as its active. What do you guys do online? What's your main source of damage? (BnB) Pressure strings? I want to so very badly main my man here but i'm having a very hard time playing him over Ermac.

Depends heavily on the wakeup. 12, 14, and f41 are your go-to armor breakers. b34 works in a couple cases.
