Question - Scorpion Which Scorpion Variation seems like the best?

The one variation to rule them all?

Truth is it's too early to tell.

I'm predicting that Hellfire will become the definitive variation for Scorpion. Inferno & Ninjitsu will be used for specific MU's.

I would say that in a lot of cases people are basing their opinion of character balance off of online play. If this is the case I can see why people would pick inferno as its a lot harder to block and punish with lag. Inferno is still really good ofgline but I feel hellfire has the edge.

He'll fire is great and I wanted to call inferno the noob choice, but it's just really strong at every distance.

You make people crouch or jump at full screen, you have a super damaging reset and it's just easier to operate.

The other thing is comparing it to the meta. There are strong zone characters right now. Inferno helps respond to sub, quan and kitana and can zone bait K.Jin, jax, erroneous black and sonya.

Lol@ erroneous black autocorrect. I'm keeping it

Yea I can say as a Kitana player inferno scorpion is one of my worst matchups, next to GM sub. He's dangerous from anywhere on the screen and trying to zone is an extremely losing battle. Inferno has the tools to deal with anyone strongly. And it's not much better when I play erroneous black.

I like Inferno, but is overrated as hell. If it was not for that ESL before lunch, everyone would be using all three to their own liking.
But nooo~ Everyone uses Inferno because they saw that one kid pull crazy combos and shit!

It's not overrated lol. It's strong because of the combos, anti air and vortex.

Scorpion just risky but you get a lot for guessing right lol

What makes inferno so overrated? It seems like his scariest version to me.
Scariest because people fight fullscreen against him.
Inferno weakness is fighting up close, where he can't cancel his strings into demons because they're all interruptible and punishable on block at close range.

Hellfire has a special move that intentionally forces respect and force people to second guess when they should get in, so they stay out midscreen to fight him from there, and actually that is the range scorpion fights better, because he can see his opponents coming.

If your execution can keep up and you understand the game well, I think Hellfire is his strongest variation. It's still super early though. We'll see how the game evolves.

Had to change my vote from Inferno to Hellfire since I've explored the latter more thoroughly. I love using flame aura as a pseudo counter and the fact that you can combo 1, 1, 4, db3 after it if you are fast enough is awesome.

TBH, I haven't played online or competitively at all yet since I need a huge Ethernet cable to reach my PS4, but in theory (and vs AI), hellfire is a pretty dynamic and effective variation. And maybe I won't feel as shitty playing as Scorpion with Hellfire since it's no doubt as overused as Inferno. Are there many Hellfire Scorpions online? Maybe I ought to pick it up as a new main.

So far, Hellfire for me. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it has the highest damage, the best pressure, good meter-building and the best chip damage.

I could see Inferno being kinda useful against zoners, but we have a universal 21f EX teleport that goes into a full-combo + pressure, and a regular 21f teleport that guarantees roughly 8% chip.

After a BnB in Hellfire, the opponent has to guess between a 13-14% throw & a B12 xx FBC into full combo, which is meterless and + if blocked. Theoretically, they should just take the throw every time because if they guess wrong they'll be eating roughly 40%.

If you're not up to guessing after your combo, you could always just force the opponent to hold roughly 9% in chip with 214 xx Fireball Cancel - more if you use EX fireball which is +8 and does roughly 3% chip.
