What's new

So I'm looking for...

anti wake-up options. Literally 95% of the people I play online just stock up on meter and spam EX wake-ups (and X-Rays), completely ruining my flow and set-up game, and I literally can't deal with it. Not a huge fan of the combination of armor and speed of these attacks. Very "get out of jail free"-ish, and I've never liked those mechanics in games. I get bodied by this shit, even though I body them in every other aspect of the game. The crappy netkode makes it even more annoying and frustrating. The characters I'm using are:

-Sonya
-Sub
-Reptile
-Kenshi

If anybody has anything with these characters that they don't mind sharing regarding stuffing/avoiding/baiting wake-ups/EXs, or even just some general tips/advice, I'd really appreciate it. D'vorah's a character that I've been testing against because her Ovipositor Rush is absurd and literally beats everything. Can't really find many options here, and what I have found is inconsistent and doesn't work all the time.

Your best bet is to read the armor wake up and NJP to punish (this was a method from MK9 used to beat Sonya's armored cartwheel, as it was pretty much the only thing you could use to punish it. NJP works wonders in this game for armored wakeups), block, backdash, or use armor yourself.

Reptile has tech IIRC to beat a lot of wakeups, look in the Reptile forum for it. Kenshi has a good armor move, I don't know what it's called, Rising Karma I think. But it hits twice and has armor, so it can beat most wakeups.

As for SZ, just don't ever hit your opponent and you wont ever get punished.

block and punish.

Thank you, captain obvious. It's not that easy when you factor in online. Things work when the probably shouldn't, timings get screwed up, people play very UOPy, etc. And a lot of EX moves and X-Ray's are pretty difficult to near impossible to punish (like D'vorah's, even though it says it's -15).

Yeah, NJP seems to be one of the better/more consistent options.

Also for Kenshi, I play Kenjutshi, so Rising Karma doesn't help me much since it's a Balanced move. But even still, I tested it and it still doesn't beat Ovipositor Rush. D'vorah is dumb. *smh*

But I appreciate the reply. I'll check out the Reptile forum.

you can punish just fine online, its about timing tho.

the problem is your timing your punish along with visual indicators, you actually have to do it earlier, compensate for lag basically.

not really easy all the time, and requires a bit more intimate knowledge of whats coming so you basically need to "read" better online to punish some things. its annoying to be sure.

Some characters have a very fast double hitting basic attack. Kung Jin f3, kung Lao f4. See if any of them have one.

If not then just block, usually the wake ups are punishable. Or use a bar and armor through armor. Or try to get the move to whiff, thus making the bar wasted.
