I'm compltely with Cossner on this, tons of downplaying going on. His mobility & mixup game is being severely underrated right now on top of hiss strong strings.

the whole mixup to reptiles knock down is that e can cross you up with elbow dash to mix up wake up inputs and then have to guess a 50/50.. On paper that's really nasty but with delayed stand up and wake up thee opponent doesn't have to guess and can just react and see what uiu are going to do.. Reptile has to make a guess to see if the opp will stay in the ground. His knock Down gsme is still pretty good but this reallly hurts it
This hurts everyones mixup

I will detail why i don't think reptile is very good when i get home.

But yea, this is only day 8, sure, but you're acting like these games are very complex. Most combos people are doing now will be very close to bnbs, especially for a linear character like reptile (barring possible nimble combos i suppose).

Reptile is still probably my best character right now. But there are flaws in his gameplay. Not saying hes trash either, just not really worth it.

That's...not like a bunch of other characters without a meterless restand...?

These games don't have to be 'complex' to not play the same months down the line.

We are still learning to stop people from 'running in to mixup'.

We are still learning the anti-air game.

We are still learning the gaps in strings.

We are still learning how to deal with GMSub.

Among other things.

Talking strictly combo wise.

Except reptiles best overhead is one hit so you have to make sure you time it perfectly. If you whiff, get bodied.
If I whiff and they don't stand up fast enough after, you better be Cassie or someone with a really fast advancing normal/special to make me give a shit.

Lol... No. If i delay wakeup and you whiff overhead i get a free wakeup regardless of who i am. Reptiled overhead may be good but its pretty punishable on whiff.

I'm testing this out now. Lol, the delayed wakeup animation is too long to even really do anything. Not to mention, you lose the ability to delayed wakeup.

I think you're doing a lot of mistiming and getting hit by wakeups because of it, not because it's delayed.

EDIT: I got it, but you have to be spot-on. In the heat of a match, and given that the Reptile doesn't have to b2 as soon as you think they are, it's not something to look at like that.

I'll record it when i get home

Check my edit.

It's an entire mixup. Either you get the timing totally right, or you better hope you don't stand into anything. This is pretty universal, across the board. It isn't just a "Reptile woes" kinda thing.

It's simple. You knock them down, and go for a mixup. You time to when they will stand without delayed wakeup and go for it, if they delay and you whiff they can execute a wakeup reversal and punish you.

It can and will happen once people start to understand reptile more. Its a big reason i mostly go low cause that b34 string is super meaty.

You can't wakeup reversal out of delayed wakeups.

You're at a much higher risk, because if I don't fall for the delayed wakeup, and you delay your wakeup accordingly to the timing required to beat out the meaty, you then have to eat that mixup for just the split-second wait with no wakeup chance.

And yea it affects most in this game but reptiles overhead is only one hit. So if you mistime it you're very punishable on whiff.

Lets say erron block whiffs his overhead string f12, he still has another attack coming out so its much harder to interrupt with a raw wakeup attack.

Again, this is if they stand at the exact window they need to to be able to even do this. And if the Reptile doesn't bite anyway, you just delayed wakeup and put yourself in a poor situation because now you have no wakeup attack to deal with anything once you stand up.

I will test and write out more of his flaws tonight when i get home hopefully i am wrong about them since i havent had tons of time to play yet and ive put in the most time with cage. I'll get back to you.

Yeah the big thing here is they delay WU & you call it out guess what they have to hold the next mixup attempt if you didn't go ballsdeep on an overcommit.

To anyone saying We are Trashing reptile please re read the messages. we all love reptile. Everybody in the Game has a flaw there is no perfect character and I just wanted to see what everyone thought about reptiles flaws. To the people taking about reptiles knockdown issues, sorry, I don't get it. I never have an issue with delayed or whiffed normals and getting punished on wakeup. If I wish b2 I throw out a quick slide or elbow dash to make them respect my shit haha. But I also play deceptive and end a lot of my stuff in invisibility so most people are scared to unblock or do wakeups because I always have a slow force ball on screen after a hard knockdown. just wanted to chime in my 2 cents on the topic :)

What Mileena players have you been playing? Her mix ups are really stupid. She's really unsafe, but once she gets in you have to guess. I don't care about "every Mileena I've played", I care about every Mileena you've played that's actually good.
When I said every Mileena I've played I only meant the good ones. Why would I mention people that don't know what they're doing? Also I asked you simply to explain how her mix up was better than Reptile's, and your only answer was "Her mix ups are really stupid". Sorry if I was unclear but I was looking for specifics, since every Mileena I've played can't consistently open me up.

Now it seems you guys have a really hard time understanding the basic functionality of the forum. Because apparently me QUOTING and responding to the guy who said "drop reptile he's mediocre compared to Kano and Kung Jin" means I'm blowing up the OP. And no I'm sorry, but if the valid opinion is "my day 8 combos aren't enough this character sucks drop him for Kano and Kung Jin" then no your opinion is not valid, sorry.
The basic functionality of the forum is to discuss whatever the creator of the thread in the forum wants to discuss. Though I wasn't aware you weren't replying to OP, since he replied to you when you replied to someone else it got me all kinds of confused. But regardless you're being harsh on people who may be new to the game, or new to the fighter. And you say "day 8 combos" as if the majority of bnbs for each fighter aren't going to stick with them. I'd bet that most bnbs for most fighters will continue to be their bnbs until something about them is changed via a patch or obscure meta shift. It's true the game is still very young, but we've discovered almost everything the game has to offer. Hundreds if not thousands of good players have tirelessly tested each fighter to produce the best results. There's still more to discover, and I'm sure some fighters still have potential we've missed, but I think you underestimate just how thoroughly everything has been tested in this past 8 days. I don't have any problems with you but you gain nothing by coming off as condescending to these people.
