Testers and Early Tournaments

Come On Die Young
undeniably unfair ha. what has the op poster done in the 4 days that the game has been released? like I said earlier day 1 tom brady was streaming for 24 hours practicing all day. Anyone could have just watched his stream and easily have been prepared for him at this local. no excuse.
Well I know @Pnut was training hard in the few days leading up to it so he could go do well at these tournaments. Unfortunately, no matter how much time he could've put in, it wouldn't be enough to match someone with weeks or months more worth of experience. He didn't even know tom and reo were going , all those guys probably didn't even know they were in texas this week lol.

This guy looks kind of tuff...

yeah no one knew till the day of the tournament.
i was joking with royale on the way to dallas, telling him what if reo or tom randomly show up to this tournament.. then it happened. lol

i understand patts frustration tho and it was kind of unfair for them to enter so early but its not my decision to ban them.
it was nice getting to see them play and play them a bit.
although i wish they would of stuck around and played casuals with everyone instead of just grabbing their money and jetting . lol smh

Heart From Iron, Mind From Steel.
The first time I played the game was the end of Feb, played it just as long as the other testers. Then got tarted on a project for Prima that they thought was cancelled, but picked back up, but got cancelled again. Thats the full extent of my playing. Not even close to 6 months.
Was that project the beginnings of the app you're releasing? When's the release date? I've been looking forward to it.

RTSD All Day. I'm going in. No Vaseline.
Most of the people in this thread are full of it. If top players who have had the game for weeks were to show up at a local tourney not even a week after the game had been released, you'd feel some type of way. Foh...

I'm usually all about letting the testers play but I'm with Pnut on this one. Week 1 tournaments is a little extreme for testers to enter. Also, I think it would be cool if we're adults about this instead of crying "salt!"

And yeah, I do think Tom and REO would probably win a tournament like that at any point in the game's life, but no, I don't think that is the point of this thread. I mean, the OP made valid arguments and all the cries about "salt, self-serving bias" or whatever was spouted early won't change that. I've got a mad ton of respect for Denzell but I think that was uncalled for.

I totally get where Pnut's coming from . . . but like when is the statue of limitations up? Tomorrow? Seems like a tournament sniper, got sniped, and is tight about it, but that's life. I had the game 4-5 days early myself, entered my local (40 someodd people, might as well have been a pot bonus) and got second easily, and probably should have gotten first, damn that @Peckapowa

I never once thought of NOT entering. Did I have an advantage? Sure. Was I studying my ass off, for all potential match-ups I might run into, of course I was. These wins aren't without merit, like people said, Reo and Tom also played for 24 hours straight too. If you did that, and still lost, that sucks, but I doubt others did.

It comes down to, trying your best, and learning as best you can. Or not entering because you don't think you're ready yet. It's not banning the testers. This is how we learn.

I've got the same decision to make with NWM. @STB Shujinkydink HELP

You clearly don't have experience with fighting games. You can not learn mobility, movement, and spacing by watching a 24 hour stream. Your argument is really weird and void of substance.

Yes, things in the game change from early builds. but that's more matchup knowledge stuff. It can take people at least a couple weeks to really get movement alone down. But a month advantage? Shit. Game over.

hey hey. what you trying to say about us bro?
i sent reo to losers but got blown up by his cassie in losers finals. never fought the char before lol. dude knew a ton of chars.
tom did say he had been playing for a long while like peanut said tho.
i didnt get to upset losing to them tho because i didnt care for the money as much as others, was good to get some early experience on my part.

ima just hold my L , Tho and Body Tom Later in the Game :p
#testeradvantage?
I respect that bro haha, body them next time and bring the hype! I ain't saying y'all are bad or nothing because u, pnut, and etc. Definitely played hard and well vs tom and REO. I just said without testing, their chances of winning would still be just as high (at least in my opinion). But I could be super wrong about that, I ain't declaring anything as fact or nothing .

Absolutely not out of like as many agree with him lmao. We can beat this topic to death, but tbh it shouldn't be that big of a deal. I can only wonder what would have happened if REO or tom didn't win this event......... Oh wait, no one wants to bring that up because that is being too real lol. Get off Denzell's back (same with others who disagree with his point of view).

I played a grand total of 33 days before launch, all on different versions of the game, the time was broken up and not done at once, and 30 of the 33 days was for either testing, writing, or casting. I did however get those 3 solid days of pre launch personal play time though....

U do not need to explain yourself, they can either accept what u are saying or not. Typical TYM junk tho, nothing new.

Saying I disagree with Denzell =/= me being on his back. I'm sure he's got thicker skin than that.
