First piece of tech found. Midscreen reverse WUs on HKD.

I'm not sure if they fixed it, but it wouldn't work vs Sub Zero.

I was in process of posting it on the OP but it wouldn't work. However, run canceling into block then neutral jump would do it.

So this is the first MK game I've played since MKII but for corner combo in ancestral I'm liking:

*freeze arrow loaded* Divekick, 34xx343~low arrow, (load freeze arrow) 343~flying kick = 37%

37%, no meter, leaves you right in their face with an arrow loaded for another mixup on wakeup (either b14~arrow or f24~arrow) which re-freezes and the vortex starts again.

It is good but I'm just not a fan of HAVING to burn meter to get a hard hitting non-universal combo. Still, it does work. I haven't played it online yet but I get the point lol. I just like Ancestral 50/50 with cray utility and Bojutsu damage with range where you only have to meterburn for armor and not combo.
Are There any combo videos posted of shoalin?

Haven't seen anyone mention it yet.:F4 looks like it's able to stuff a lot of wakeups. I haven't tested on too much of the cast but it can stuff Mileena's ex roll. Cannot stuff reptile's ex slide.

I'm not entirely sure. It's not the most used variation, sadly.

Wakeups thus far aren't much of a factor in this game. Just block and punish. If they wanna waste the bar, let em. That way you get a full punish and not a knockdown. I get what you're saying tho.

New Bojutsu BnB guys! This gives you more damage and ridiculous wall carry.

34xxBF4, B2xxBF4, DK, Run, 34xxDB3 - 37% and will put them in the corner from mid screen. Go wild.
Got another good one. I happened to watch Shang tsungs fight bight right when @FOREVER KING was messing around with kung jin in practice.

Corner- (starter), bo swat, 4 bo swat, 343 bo spin- 38-41% no bar

Guys Jacqui Briggs is a problem for Kung Jin. Alot of her strings are 0 on block so i think the best Variation for that matchup is Ancestral or Shaolin.

to the people claiming Jin is OP, can someone test if you can armor between string and bo swing (launcher)? I had someone do it to me a couple times with kano online between b14 and bo swing. if it can be done, and someone can do it online consistently, then can we stop complaining? lol

Yeah you can interrupt it with normals as well, but you shouldn't just be chucking bo swing/bo swat out on the end of strings. Both his overhead and low are hitconfirmable and safe on block so if you're doing that it shouldn't be a problem.

I disagree. Jacqui has trouble dealing with the reach of Kung Jin's normals. I played against mfkaoz's Jacqui and you can poke out of her overhead and low normals. Also, use nj2 in footsies for at least 27% because the reach of our nj2 is better than most of Jacqui's normals so you'll beat it almost every time. Don't try to outzone her because her guns shoot several shots. Just try to get in slowly and then when in range, punish her gunshots with divekick. While this game is still early, I think Kung Jin is a problem for Jacqui. Just be patient and use your range to your advantage.

From practice, no. His fastest specials are mb kano ball (0 frames) and mb up ball (5 frames)...neither can be executed. However, he can mb up ball out of b14 bo swat on block. Maybe that's what you mean. And you just have to condition him to block it...if he is punishing that, switch it up and do b14~bo swing for the added chip damage.

I put in practice and he couldn't mb kano ball which is 0 frames between b14 and bo swing but he could with bo swat.

Some Shaolin Dirt for you.

Shaolins damage comes from being able to keep your opponent standing.

For instance, Midscreen, 221~Ex Low Chakarang Ji2 221~db3 D4 does 35% into a HKD

However, what I have found and have been abusing the absolute piss out of, is that if you stagger them after the ji2 with a 34 (+23 on hit) you get a real dirty mixup.

B12 (low starter) HAS to be respected. It can not be interupted or backdashed or armored or jumped.
F2 (overhead) can be backdashed
JI2 (Must be backdashed or opponent can run underneath it < This is hella dangerous due to a njp fake from kung jin)

Basically, after you stagger with 34, you get a free b12, or you can Jump and go for a F2, B1, or any form of his chakram based mixups. I've been able to deal well over 60% in the blink of an eye with this setup. To give you an idea, here is what can happen:

B12~Low Chak-a-rang, JI2 34 Stagger. (around 27%) B12 (to catch someone not respecting it) ~Db3 D4 = another 23-25%)

Total damage? Around 47% One bar. If you do a repeat loop (meter burn a low chakra again) you will look at a potential 60% midscreen loop.

Also, JI2 Throw works essentially everytime in this setup lol

Warning, Wall of text.

Alright, so I just played a buddy of mine who is using Grandmaster Sub. The only variation I feel truly comfortable with is Bojutsu, but I can't make it effective against him. He clones, zones with ice balls or clone throws until I get frozen and then rushes in for the combo. I try to break his clones with arrows but I get blown up with a slide or an ice ball before I can block again. The only reason I beat him at all is because he's impatient and likes to rush in sometimes, which I block and punish with a full combo. I feel like he could chip me to death if he really wanted to though. Any tips to make Bojutsu viable against Grandmaster or should I switch and truly study Ancestral and Shaolin for this matchup?
This ^^^, I've lost every match I've been in against a Grandmaster Sub Zero as Bojutsu.
- Arrows break the clone but leaves you vulnerable to Ice ball
- Armored Lunged Kick goes through Ice Ball but not Clone (Not sure if it goes through clone actually, need to check that)
Spamming Arrows usually results in trading projectiles and getting frozen or getting hit by the low slide.

I literally have no idea how to beat it

Max corner damage meterless off the 5050 looks like bf4 4xxbf4 jkxxdivekick 34xxdb3 meterless 39%

You can also do bf4 4xxbf4 11 jkxxdivekick njp 11 throw for a standing reset for 34% off the 5050

Also getting 36 midscreen off bf4 runcancel 34 jkxxdivekick runcancel 34xxdb3 that's off that 5050 also

Will definitely try and use Shaolin for a bit now, sounds like a lot of fun

I think it's clear that is necessary to pick an alt character against Grandmaster Sub-Zero, any idea about who might have a good matchup against him?

Have you tried all the variations? Shaolin is pretty good against Subby because of the low chakram. I made a post before with a few helpful things too. D+B4 is your best friend against Subby, the matchup seems hard at first but you just have to be patient.

Little bit of tech for the Sub Zero matchup;

So in Bojutsu any time Subby does a string on block cancelled into Ice Clone you can punish with reversal db3, obviously you can also enhance it and get a 36% punish for it too. Also Bo Sweep (D+B4) Is really good for hitting Subby through the clone since the move doesn't move you forward much and has a massive reach on it. In other variations you can punish f42 xx Ice Clone and b21 xx Ice Clone with Bo Sweep but the timing is quite strict.

I'd make a video but I dont have any recording software lol.

I've yet to go against a high level Grandmaster Sub Zero so I can't tell ya anything about the MU lol

To further elaborate on my setup above.

B12 cannot be backdashed, nor can B21. This leads to some pretty interesting mixups.

Here is the damage potential of this setup.

221~low ex rang Ji2 34 = 26%

B12~low ex rang ji2 34 = 22%

F24~low ex rang ji2 34 = 22%

B214~low ex rang ji2 34 = 25%

From this position: B12 and B23 are guaranteed. There is nothing the opponent can do about it. They cannot backdash, jump nor move at all.

B12~Rising Kick D4 =19 percent additional damage total of 45 to 41% 1 bar. Hard Knockdown.

B214(low)~Rising Kick D4 = 23% additional damage for a total of 49 - 45% 1 bar. Hard Knockdown.

B21 2+4 (overhead) = 14% additional damage for a total of 40 - 36% 1 bar. Techable Knockdown.

F24~rising kick D4 = 19% additional damage for a total of 45 to 41% 1 bar. - This is backdashable.

The best part is? All of these options are pretty much safe due to pushback and distance. The unsafest option is -7. B12 can be confirmed into B123 for a safe (-2) string.

So we are looking at some pretty hefty damage here off of a pretty narly mixup. You can also get greedy when the opponent respects this and do a JI2 (VERY easy to condition) which adds to the chip + damage potential. You can also continue the mixup by doing any of the strings above into yet ANOTHER low chakram and keep them locked down for the same mixup.

Would you guys like a video of this?

Yeh I guess I might have to just pick another variation or character, the patient game is so hard especially with the chip damage from clone toss
