I like his teleport. You can teleport far enough away from them to be relatively safe. Can get out of the corner easily. If you want to be real slippery, use ex-tele. It's basically the same thing as mk9 tele.
MKX ex-tele is so much better than MK9 tele tbh. Should keep it in mind in the corner especially because of entire getting out of it thing plus there you can do some damage on whiff without burning second bar.

Teleport isn't his staple move, how did you even come to think that was true?

Electric Fly has been Raiden's signature and most well known move since forever.
I disagree. While being memorable, fly wasn't much different than shadow kick and the like. Neutral trollport was unique to Raiden until MKX I believe. I say, it does better job being his signature move.

EDIT: Oh, and a question, I've seen people hitting with superman in combos after TG's 112[2] string, but I just can't get it right. Is it just a link or I should cancel it? If latter is correct, how do I do it?

Just unlocked Dark Raiden in the Krypt, it looks badass as hell. Still wish the lightning was red, but the blue effects from the variations make so that it actually matches a bit, unlike in MK9.

You are incorrect. Both Teleport and Electric Fly (also known as Torpedo) are his staple moves, along with Lightning Bolt. Those were his three special moves in MK1 and he's had them ever since (except in MK Deadly Alliance he did not have a teleport).

While you're holding that last 2... you can input the superman at pretty much any time while still holding 2. That's what I do and it always works. I had problems at first.

Damn, I am having fun playing Displacer Raiden. I am trying to push the opponent in the corner with a ALIBABAHE at the end of a combo. And then I am going ham with b2 and b33 mixups. (Yeah, yeah, I know, it's unsafe). That feels weird to have a vortex character in my hands.
I am still having trouble to whiff punish and block punish at long distance with bf3... Have to train to hit cleanly bf3 (Because the inputs are more strict in MKX)... It's awesome against Takeda... And one day, I'll use EX TP to whiff punish...
His standing 1 is fabulous.

Teleport tickle fail
I really like displacer raiden too. I think it offers the best mobility. My only problem with Raiden is the same I had in MK9...he seems to have a roster-worst block recovery. I don't know if I'm imagining it but I've always had issues retaliating after a block with him. I avoided it in MK9 with teleports but that's not as convenient in MKX.

So far my favorite bnb string is 214,exdf2,213,bf3...Does 36% 1 meter iirc, 2 meters it's 40% on the ex superman. In the corner ending with b111+3 does 40% 1 bar. Very reliable strings for me.

Right, I'm new to the TYM forums, as well as to Mortal Kombat -- shocking, i know, but for real. I've always been interested in the franchise, kept informed about the roster, played a bit of Deadly Alliance and Deception when i was at university. But i finally took the plunge and bought MKX.

Skipping to my question: Is Raiden worth learning? Is he formidable against the go-to characters?...if so, how?

Master of storm gets no love?
I think Tony-T works with him. Time will tell if it's just because of swag potential or it's possible to actually pull his shit off in real match.

I don't think block stuns are different. The thing in MK9 was that Raiden's normals were on slower end.

Standing 1. Standing 1. Standing 1. Standing 1. Standing 1. Standing 1. That range... 0 on block. 7 frames. Maybe it's just me. But I am so excited about that poke.

F1,2. My favorite pressure string. Hits mid, 5 frames, great range. -5 on block but blockstun is almost non existent. Very hard to counter, and if you decide to go for the full f1,2,b2 its hit confirmable into combo and safe. Basically mk9 jhonnys f3 string but launches

Isn't f1 high?

On a side note, I find it funny how I mistype f1 as f5 all the time :p

Athena guide me, the thunder God...
i havent seen it anywhere and im sorry in case are old news..but the teleport in place,in front and back behind burns half stamina..only the close behind and all ex-teles are stamina free...

Edit : the ex-teleports if you hold the block you stay invisible and can choose your position..BUT YOU CAN BE HITTEN!! BE CAREFUL!

Has anyone messed around with lighting ball run cancels in thunder god? 34, b14 and 214 seem like a good strings to cancel from but feel hard execution wise compared to the likes of scorpion or liu's cancels. Not sure about the hold-able strings.

I really started to drool over projectile cancels in TG. How else can you get in? they seem a little clunky, and the stamina bar is now a factor. But there has to be something there for zoning into pressure.
Im positive TG is A-Tier or better. We'll see at the Majors

They are best used on bolt chip strings and after b14 enders to continue pressure. I find them very effective because you can always release tb to keep them honest.

His b2 is not unsafe with ex teleport . B2-ex tele-b3 and reverse works well too . First hit of b2 can be cancelled :)

I was starting to mess with this. It's not possible to get any guaranteed pressure, but it's decent after ending a combo with b14. However, b14 puts you at perfect range for f2 pressure anyway (also not guaranteed). Just doing f22+4(hold) is 100% safe, does good chip, and can hit confirm into ex db2 for full combo, so that might be the better option after b14.

There could be other shenanigans involved with cancelling, but I don't think anyone has found them yet.
