What's new

Do you hope your character(s) of choice is/are top tier?

They mentioned that Quan has no wakeups, so he pretty much gets fucked over on knockdown. I'm scared, honestly. That matchup looks like garbage for Quan since Erron's knockdown game is ridiculous especially in the corner.
Of course this is all about Day One. Quan Chi may get buffs in later patches but yes that Match up is so bad for him. A bad wakeup character against Erron Black with caltrops and scary wall combos in the corner? Please there is only one type of character who wins that fight

I believe Saucy Jack addressed this during a KTF episode. I agree with what he said.

Plus on block.
Preferably I want the tiers to not really matter in this game, but I want the characters I use to be mid to mid-high.

If they're high tier then everyone will flock to them and I'd hate that.

Also, there'd be a serious chance of them being nerfed into oblivion due to fucked up damage control and I'd rather not have to do some serious re-adjusting after learning a character a certain way.

I'd take low as long as it's manageable. I fucking hate those steep match-ups when using a lower tier character.

Honestly, in my heart of hearts I was hoping Raiden would be top tier. If he doesn't turn out to be that's ok. I'm going pure top tier this time regardless.

I never watched it. So, I'm not quite sure what he said. >.>
Oh, allow me to share: he pretty much said that assigning tiers to characters gives players excuses for winning, losing, etc. People should worry less about their characters' "tier", and worry more about just becoming a better player and realizing if you just got outplayed, weren't prepared for a match-up, etc.

That's very well put and I can't help but agree with it. Thanks for sharing. =)

My focus is Tanya and Jade (Kitana mournful). I plan to pick up a third, hopefully Fujin becomes DLC. If they're top tier it is what it is. Work with what you got. I'm interested in Kung jin, and Takeda as well

Personally I dont care if my main is top tier or not. I just want a character that can compete. that's coming from a guy who was loyal to stryker until MK9 died down. So far my characters are (in this order):
1) Erron Black (still hype to see his potential after what SonicFox demonstrated at ESL)
2) Kenshi (2nd main since MK9)
3) Takeda (he interest me so far)

I want kenshi to be top tier because then I can't be complained about using a top tier character because I picked him day one I can say loyalist. Like zod I picked him because he looked awesome and really hard

I'd be fine if my character/variation turned out to be top-tier matieral. If not, thats cool too. If they fit my playstyle ill play them regardless of where they are on the list. Because in the end i know ill play at my best with them.

Dont we have block breaker in this game now? Isn't that a thing?

unfortunately, my dear eldriken, i sometimes do catch myself wishing I played super low tier. The expectation of always being th best is a heavy burden to shoulder, but i've made peace with these demons as i understand there's no such thing as low tier when ol' Shazzmcnasty isbehind the wheel. i will never know what it feels like to be a care-free scrub such as yourselves, non-evo online champs. and you'll hate me for it. i've learned this over the months. i've come to terms with this and have to accept what i am, the best.
