I wonder though if you can hold that button for very long and while you're holding it can you make any other inputs? Would hitting the block button release that button?

I think you forgot that ball smash one he does too. You can control the distance on it apparently. ;)
Oh yeah, I keep forgetting about his Kano Ball. If that doesn't anti-air, I really don't see the point in it. We see it whiff against Reptile, so it looks like you've got to space it correctly or eat a combo. If it's unsafe on block, I doubt you'll see it used much, as his other tools are just seemingly better at every range.

I know in other games with held inputs as long as you hold that input you're free to use other moves; look at Zero in UMvC3, that's his whole gameplan. I have a feeling Takeda players will need to get comfortable playing with that held input.

He might be the first charging character brought back since MK2 and UMK3 days with a different concept, all will go down into how to hold that kunai affects the others inputs in his game indeed.

@GuerillaTactix i would assume you can do whatever you want as long as you hold it. In other games that's always been the case. Don't think it would be different here. Which means you would be able to apply pressure and mind games while holding it.

Takeda and I are going to abuse Day -5 practice mode lol.

So after this last though, i went back into stream and took this shot:

The Kunai code is DB1 which means he has to hold 1 to extend the time before it goes off or let it go before that happens, Quick phase is 3 and the only one we don't know is the overhead whips, but if those are 2 then we might have a pretty dangerous character in hand capable of using all his options without losing any one of them aside from another kunai or standing 1 strings.

yet there is more, since you have to old "1" to take more of an exercise to actually hold the button and use his others options, but if you're using a stick instead:

I have "1" in hold position and have my all others fingers easily spread over the other buttons where Takeda has options to go for, like running, 2,3 and 4 button, as well as using interactibles or throws

You guys are really underestimating Takedas popularity.

He has everything he needs to be a casual magnet.

The personality and voice of an anime teenage hero.
Super cool ninja moves and animations.
Robot ninja armor.
Laser swords.
Generic cool Japanese name.
The offspring of Scorpion and Kenshi.
Bladed whips.
Based on the moves he has, he will probably be easy to do well with.

He is like a 14 year old's wet dream.

Absolutely. I think we're going to see more online Takedas than any other character.

As some have said, though...I doubt he will have a massive online presence. Everyone will still be playing Scorpion, Sub Zero, Mileena.....the classic characters. The casual players I know would look at Takeda and say "Man, he looks stupid and his voice sucks. I'm not playing him. What a waste." Same goes for Kung Jin.
Respectfully, you are nuts. Takada is the Deathstroke of MKX. He will be everywhere because he is all kinds of tech, cheese and flash.

People who love their Ninja mains will be there, but there is 0% chance you won't be playing a Takada at the very least 1-3 matches for quite some time. The only real exception I can see is if Goro or Erron Black end up with more flash.

ya but casual's will only inherit the game for a few months, hopefully he's not too nerfed by then

"Mind Over Matter" I dont mind, and X dont matter
He's good. If he gets good pressure am all in. Though I am pretty sure if the roster wont change (more DLC) I will push Scorpion to maximum along with this kid. Besides having those two as mains - why not :)

I did think of one possible use for that wierd flip kick universal move. I'm wondering if it can be used as a combo ender to put Takeda into an ambiguous anti-wakeup setup (as in, you end your combo with it to land directly on top of your opponent, preferably at advantage). I figure at the very least it can be used as a side-switching technique.

too smart to play MKX
Won't say I'm reporting here as a "Takeda main" because this game has too much shit in it for me to claim a main without at least a month of time put in, but I will say that for everything I've seen so far, Takeda's the first character that made me think "holy shit, I actually want to use EVERY variation of this guy, not just the one."

Looks like he has a lot of the stuff I look for, and is neither zoner nor rusher. Seems like he's geared towards a solid mid-range game and traps. Hard to beat that. Kenshi's probably the only character capable of throwing me off Takeda as my first pick on my first day with the game.

People gravitate towards characters like this but they won't last with him since this dude is going to be niche. The casual crowd will be fixated for a while, then once everybody stops falling for scrub shit they'll realize they have a character on their hands that's about gay stuff like space control and setups and end up with the characters that were designed with casual play in mind.

Plus, LBSH, if this guy has one cool looking--though punishable--special, no one's gonna stick with him too long. Honestly I see Takeda as more of an early candidate for tons of ragemail and angry posts and furious tweets reading something like "I keep jumping into Takeda's whips and this is everybody's responsibility except mine, nerf it or I'll be really upset."

I'm really glad I was underwhelmed by Erron Black; one less character to take my time away from Takeda. Every character they reveal I just think, "pff, Takeda can deal with that in his sleep".

Erron's voice acting was good when it was good and shit when it was shit, but Takedas is just always shit :tonyt
