Laying in bed with my girlfriend I just read this entire thread. What has happened to TYM?! I should find this funny, but its all weird to me know.

1) @Slips, because of how forward thinking and smart he is.
2) @GGA 16 Bit, because of how real his is in discussion and how passionate he is.
3) @AK L0rdoftheFLY, because the first three people I met in the days of MKU.com were Fly, Pig, and Dink, considering them idols as I was new and unknown in 2011. Since then, I've worked with Pig on Kenshi and Dink on Quan. Working with Fly would feel like a sense of completion.

- I'm not gonna mention who I don't want to main, because I'm afraid that he would jump into threads just to annoy me if he knew it would annoy me.

Consistency is extremely important. But think about it this way. 10 years from now, would you rather have won EVO in MKX or got top 8 at all tournaments you went to? In the games prime, consistency is key. But I bet REO would trade in all his top 8's in MK9 for a 1st place EVO medal.

I have to agree with that. That evo win is a feeling like no other. When DJT won mk9, he showed more emotion than he ever had for winning a tournament.

Definitely, there's no "right" answer. Winning EVO, to me, has a longer lasting effect and would mean more in the moment and later in life.

I mean look at PL, winning 2 EVOs in a row didn't do too much for him, people even doubted he was a top player in MK9 at the end of the game's life.

But you have consistent players like 16bit and Pig who never missed (or almost never) a top 8 in any major they went to once they got the ball rolling, and no one in their right mind would doubt they were among the best in MK9.

I will main kung lao and would like reo, slips and 16 bit to main him as well.

I think people doubted PL because they thought he was a jerk. If he and Pig switched resumes I bet people would've said he wasn't top because e never won the big one

I'll do a couple of each, and start with people I wouldn't want to play the same character as:

1. Tyrant- I'm not trying to play some poverty ass semi grappler and work damn hard in every MU just so that TYM can make neat gifs of me whiff punishing with bad normals
2. ChrisG- Because he's going to win like 3 locals and top 8 at a tournament within 3 days of the game's release and get the character nerfed.

One person I would want to play the same character as:

@EMPEROR_THEO - Because that would mean I'm not only playing some cheap stuff, but I have someone to complain about our 5-5s with at Jack in the Box.

Also despite popular belief the NW community was always an interesting group of people to share a character with.

Good point, but I will bring up the case of Denzell since he only ever missed one top 8 (evo 2012) and obviously no one coughed at him but when he won evo, that put a different spotlight on him as a player. So tbh, the real dream is to be consistent and win evo imo.

Wait what? Winning two EVO's in a row was HUUUUUUGE. People still talk about it to this day. Look at someone like Maxter, who was incredibly consistent, got a crap load of top 8's, and now he's forgotten.

PS: PL actually was pretty consistent in MK9. He missed out on top 8 twice, at MLG Columbus and Dallas. REO missed out on top 8's at MLG Anaheim and EVO 2012. Nobody in their right might would suggest he wasn't consistent. The same applies to PL. If you're making top 8's AND winning two EVOs, you're pretty much set. Actually, if you're winning EVO, you're set.

Don't take my quote out of context. Yes EVO is a big deal, especially two EVOs in a row. I'm saying despite that accolade people doubted his skill.

So when people claimed "Evo is just another major in vegas" and PL getting blown up for missing top 8 at Dallas and Columbus didn't count as people doubting him?

In no way shape or form am I suggesting that I personally think PL was inconsistent or a non-top player.

@Somberness - Who wouldn't want sombs as an ally? He got the gear he can test out things with precision in terms of frame data.
Skarlet Community - Usually they're all good, every Skarlet player doesn't down play and when they find a tough matchup they all join forces to figure the best way to grind that specific MU, it has happened a lot during the MK9 life span so shootouts to all of them @FCP /EMP SCAR too yo 0/.
@Pig Of The Hut - Honestly i have to add this guy too, even if he doesn't play the same character as you, he is good player who likes to grind matchups, this includes people he does like, Pig is a resourceful man, and can help your character grow even when he doesn't play the same character as you do. And feels good to have Pig on your side when @GGA 16 Bit and @BillStickers join forces to downplay your character.


Who i wound't main the same character:

Chris G - He would body people free on the earlier days with a character no one is interested in learning the MU then Colt wound't buff him cos Chris G yo. Then he would drop the scene for months only to come by later when everybody forgots how he plays and still body people free cos no one care about a low tier MU, and then Colt would drop by and body all other mains of the same character Yo.

@Eddy Wang - i have to say the same for you too really like the way you break down your characters and your mkx write-ups so far have been really helpful for understanding our characters even before the game comes out. and really anyone from the skarlet community would be cool to work with (you, fly, ninj, scar, laos_boy, etc.)

@RM GamerBlake - cuz we are usually equal in skill and he's a great person to talk to. i can't wait to play him in mkx cuz we played almost exactly the same in mk9 lol

@Slips - well us using the same char is inevitable but still he's one of the few people where i learn something new everytime i watch him play. he understands how to play his characters better than anyone and he gives some of the best advice for his character
