These are the Evo monitors...better than the Alien Ware, and cheaper too. Highly suggest these for your local ranbats, tourneys, get togethers. These are SRK Recommended Fight Gear!

ASUS VH236H
This is the standard monitor for EVO and many other tournaments. If you want to play on the monitor that you're likely to be playing on at a major tournament, this is your best bet.
23" 16:9 widescreen display
Full HD 1920x1080 resolution
20000:1 contrast ratio
Built-in speakers
ASUS VH236H

Got 2 yesterday....these bad boys are NOICE. :coffee:

I need to get one of these. Are these compatible with fat xbox 360's with no HDMI or do you need to buy something else to make it work?

This is a post by Kane from TZ, I thought it might help others with this monitor.

okay, let's face it ... not all HD tvs / monitors are lag free. not even the Asus evo monitor - VH236H / VG236HE is completely lag free ... however, with certain settings, you can make your tv / monitor as close to lag free as possible, depending on your monitor and settings.

if you didn't already know, when your HD monitor is set to optimal picture settings, it takes processing power [from the monitor], which in turn creates lag. even just setting your monitor to "Game" mode will not always alleviate the problem.

Are you sensitive to lag? ... I am incredibly sensitive to lag. I have the Asus VH236HL-P monitor and even on Game mode, I have very specific settings to attempt to reduce lag as much as possible.

I created this thread so people can post their HDTV settings ... if this thread is out of place or unnecessary, the mods can feel free to move or close it.

~~~
anyway, here are my settings for my Asus monitor, Game Mode:
Brightness - 89
Contrast - 79
Sharpness - 88
Saturation - 39
ASCR - off
Overdrive - 100
~~
Color Temp - Normal
Skin Tone - Yellowish
~~
to those who are sensitive to lag and also have the same monitor as I do, I encourage you to try out my game-mode monitor settings and see if you can feel a difference ...
I own 2 of these and my first one I got had one dead red pixel but went away after a couple months I think. They are great gaming monitors the only drawback for some is the lack of composite inputs.
Awesome Tim. When you open these babies up can you let me know if they have aux. speaker outs? Im sure you remember from ECT2 what I like to run my sound through lol
Hmm, I could use a new LCD when I build a new gaming rig in the future. Guess I'll snag that puppy. I personally don't notice any lag on my HDTV.
I don't even use game mode. /shrug
Dunno about 100% lagless if it's HD, but I definitely need one of these if it's as close to "lagless" as there is currently. The price tag is nice too.
Yea they work but you would need a 360 VGA cable :)
This model # is the only one with the least if any, and completely tested by my buddy Joey aka MrWizard
While I can't say that they are better than the Alienware AW2210 OptX displays (which have better color and actually lag less, and were used at Evo 2010), the VG236H is pretty solid, and is a good product for the price.
Eh, neither (ASUS or Alienware Evo Monitors) are lagless but both are pretty much as close to lagless as you'll get on an LCD. And the lag that they do have is nearly impossible to perceive.
There are cheaper, larger alternatives like I-Inc. And all you need is an hdmi to dvi cable.
That said, it is a sick monitor. I have it as my main 2 monitors in my 4 display pc set up. I just recommend I-Inc for gaming. Just got a 26" from microcenter with 2 ms for my arcade cabinet for $120 (granted it was on sale though).
Looks like today is the last day to get them for 140,
theres a instant 10$ promo code good for today and $20 mail in rebate..... im buying one :)
Technically speaking, no display setup for any game is 100% "lagless". And that includes CRTs running on arcade cabinets.
low lag monitors
Thinking about picking up another monitor to practice on... was hoping someone would be able to recommend something. Should I just get the common Asus Evo monitor? Is there something larger than the Evo monitor that will still run as smoothly? I'm trying to stay HD. I'm currently on a LG 47LK520 but it isn't exactly a pro gaming TV.
Anyway... you should post what television / monitor you use, if you like it, blah blah blah. Thanks!
Yeah uhh... I got a 19 inch Insignia tv for my dorm yesterday. In short, I imagine this thing is going to make me drop my combos whenever I play somewhere that has an Asus.
Would recommend getting some kind of smaller sound system to connect to it as the speakers on these monitors are very quiet. Other than that, they are fucking perfect. :coffee:
Got A Toshiba - 24SL410U - 24" It has horrible speakers but makes up with the ability to hook up a sound system to it. 1080p and down with 2 hdmi inputs, 1 Component, VGA and some others. I haven't noticed any lag and have taken it to a few tournaments plus plenty of casuals and never heard a complaint. Extremely light weight! Anyways, if it catches your attention just check out your local best buy or wal-mart and see if they have one on display. The reviews online usually say that the speakers are the deal breakers.
I'm glad this made me think about it. Thanks to Craigslist, I might be picking up an Asus VH236 tomorrow.
The asus monitors are so popular because they come with a 2 msec response rate and built in speakers. Basically any monitor with a 2 msec response rate will be lag less and lag less is the tournament standard which is why you should train on them.
